Are We Having Fun Yet?
And there you have it, ladies and gentlemen - the first semester of Dental School is now complete. Biochem is finished, Histo is finished, Community Dentistry is finished twice, and we've got one test remaining in Gross Anatomy. Altogether three and a half years left. On the one hand, it's hard to believe that we've been here for 22 weeks. On the other hand, it seems like we've been here forever.
At any rate, it's nice to see the sun again, though I feel a bit odd not having anything I need to be studying.
Here's wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday season, with a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kawanza and/or simply Season's Greetings as the case may be, and Happy New Year. Looking forward to seeing everybody again next semester (though I must admit I'm also looking forward to not seeing you guys for a change over the next two weeks).

Berto Needs Pictures
Class Historian Roberto Loar is looking for pictures to use in a class scrapbook. You should have received a copy of his request for pictures (in any format) via e-mail. I know you folks have cameras that you're using, and the pictures don't have to be of strictly dental-school functions, so send 'em in if you've got 'em, 'cause we need 'em!
I mean, this is a great picture and all, but is it really how you want us to be remembered?

Other, Less Interesting Stuff
From a site management standpoint, Gross Anatomy and Biochemistry notes have been archived in the Note Vault.
Also, I've added "Birthdays This Week" to the top of the news page (there aren't a lot for the rest of December and all of January, so I might be a week or two ahead here and there), and I'll be posting those based on the information in the Student Directory, so if you have a moment you might want to drop in there and make sure your info is correct. If you've lost the e-mail with the username and password, you know where to reach me.
In computer-related news, the Computer Group is reporting that Dell should be here to replace the LCDs early next semester, but there's still no definite date for that.
It was also suggested at Thursday morning's meeting that T&N may have the new wireless access points installed in all the lecture halls by the time we return, so keep your fingers crossed.
Finally, I sent an e-mail out (and I'll send another one when the semester starts back up), but anyone who has replaced McAfee VirusScan (or Virex on the Macs) with the school's Symantec AntiVirus needs to see me and sign something.
At this point that should mean everyone, but if you haven't switched yet, the instructions are located on the Tech Tutorials page. You will need to be in the cubes or on the VPN, though.

Gross Exam 3 Hitlist
The real Craig Blaisdell stood up and delivered an Exam 3 Hitlist for Gross Anatomy, noting that certain redundant osteology has been omitted. (Or something to that effect; I wasn't really listening. I mean...certainly you've noticed how he just yammers on and on and on and it's impossible to get a thought in edgewise, much less a word. I finally just took the notes and walked off.)

Tooth ID Notes
Need a few hints for the Tooth ID Quiz in Dental Anatomy tomorrow? Then try out a delightful set of Tooth ID Quiz Notes from Emily Conley or the Tooth ID Chart from Craig Rose, both piping fresh in the Note Vault.

Radiology Review
Thanks to Jennifer Kim, there are some notes from the Radiology Final Exam Review in the Note Vault.
Also, Tony Morlandt sent in a chart for Gross covering the Arteries of the Head and Neck.

I've also stuffed the November news items into the News Archive.

Ew, Gross
Detailed Hitlists in Gross for labs 18 (anesthesia) and 19 (the mouth) from Saba Ahmed.

According to the Directory, it's a big weekend for birthdays, with Liz Grimm (the big two-one, w00t) and Brandon Sehlke on the 6th followed by Tara Ehler and Dana Leonard on the 7th. Welcome to Older, guys!
I'm considering putting a "This Week's Birthdays" feature above the news feed. Any objections or suggestions?

Pterygopalatine - Photo
In brief:

Managed to get the team photo of S. Mutans scanned for UTHSCSADental Sports. No, my scanner is not still broken - the picture (which, as far as we've been able to determine, is the only one of the entire team in existance) is just that grainy.

Things and Stuff
As per usual, I begin with a listing of new notes. It's a short list, comprised entirely of Tony Morlandt's Dental Anatomy Quick Reference Chart in, you guessed it, the Dental Anatomy section of the Note Vault. Says the Mormeister: "Here's a chart I made – it may help studying for finals, boards (not much help for this exam – sorry!)."
Thanky much, Mr. Tony.

Seein' as how Histo's over, I archived the Histo notes for the third test, though I doubt any of us will ever set foot in that archive again.

Preece-ful Images
In case you missed the e-mail, Dr. Preece sent out two uplifting photo messages along with the following:
I appreciated the opportunity to see you all again for the exam review, since our last lecture together in August. It has been 37 years since I was a freshman in dental school. But my memories of final exam week are still fresh in memory and regretably not very pleasant. Yes, I still remember the stress, anxiety and even fear that gripped me before each exam and the long, long nights and the fatigue that accompanies the absence of sleep. I am enclosing a couple of pictures that I hope will bring encouragement to you during the days to come. I don't think I'd ever want to repeat my freshman year ever again, but at least for me - the effort was worth it, I love the career that dentistry has permitted me to gain.

Sports Photos
I was going to have a picture on UTHSCSADental Sports of S. Mutans, but apparently my scanner decided it would be really funny to not work at all. Until I can beat it into submission, just pretend you know what they all look like.
However, I was able to acquire a copy of the 007's team photo and get that posted. Which I suppose worked out pretty well, as they're much better looking anyway.
